The Beano's Laura Howell paid a special visit to Adrianna and Sierra, winners of our Sketching Stars competition.

Primary school pupils Adrianna, 8, and Sierra, 9, were treated to a special visit from The Beano illustrator Laura Howell this month, after being crowned winners of our Sketching Stars competition.

Laura – the first female illustrator in the comic’s 70-year history – teamed up with Teachers’ Club UK to find the next generation of Sketching Stars back in November, creating original comic characters Ben & Pen to feature in the competition entry sheets.

Adrianna and Sierra were hand-picked as the winners by Laura and enjoyed bespoke comic book sketching workshops for them and their classmates as part of their prize, receiving expert advice and guidance from Laura in a bid to nurture their artistic talent.

Adrianna’s teacher and Teachers’ Club UK member Mrs Coyle said:

“The children had a fantastic morning of art, which stimulated their imagination and indeed gave me great ideas for future art lessons”.

Our Sketching Stars competition will re-open again late 2015, featuring a brand new sketching talent to help front the search. To be eligible to enter your class, simply become a member of Teachers’ Club UK for free today.
