We are forever promoting the mentality of ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again’, and nothing has ever rung so true. All pupils need is praise and some encouragement in the right direction — and even the hardest nut to crack will get there in the end.
When the bell rings at 3pm, the work doesn’t end there. Those papers won’t mark and grade themselves by tomorrow. Tiring? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.
‘Creative’ is possibly the understatement of the century. Teachers can turn anything into a teaching tool (even toilet roll!) and if you’ve never turned a toilet roll into a teaching tool, you’re probably now sat thinking about how you can incorporate it into your lessons tomorrow...
There is quite literally nothing better than that moment when a pupil turns around after hours of tirelessly trying to explain an idea, and says “ohhh, I get it now!”. Overcoming these challenges is what makes the job so rewarding and makes teachers so amazing.
Move over, CBeebies Storytime! From animal noises to props and dramatic pauses, teachers can make even the most boring stories come to life.
